Well it’s official, I’m moving to Dallas. This is a very sad day for me I love the District and the some of people that live in the metro area. So, I have compiled a list of the things I will miss about DC.

1. Parties with a purpose, it’s something to be said about a city where the professionals get together and have fab fundraising parties for presidential canidates, non-profits, associations, etc.
2. Intellects. Not that other cities don’t have their “Talented 10th” , its just that in DC intelligence and a hook up on a contract goes a lot further .
3. Proximity to civilization. DC is so close to other cities that matter like NYC and Philly which are also hubs for the Talented 10th. I can either, drive, fly, ride the train or if money is funny ; take the Eastern’s Shuttle on H Street (they leave every hour ;-D) and be in another energetic city in time for lunch.
4. Nightlife. I have partied everywhere, and I mean everywhere but, no city can compare to the sophistication that metro area offers hands down. I mean NYC is cool but, its not the same.
5. Chicken wings, fried rice, mambo sauce (on occasion) and half and half. I worked in the hood in NE ’nuff said.
6. Saint’s Paradise Cafe. I love this place. Where else in DC can you find a piece of catfish bigger than your head.
7. Sunday brunch with the girls. Some do church, I do brunch. I love brunch mostly for the mimosa but, also for the fellowship with friends over a plate of great food and a glass of bubbly. The Beacon, Ritz, Odyssey, Bus Boy’s you will be missed.
8. Water. I hate being in land locked states, I don’t know why I just do. Even though the rivers and the Harbors (B-more included) are a little suspect, it was nice to be near a body of water. A least you have an option to take a invite on someone’s boat for a afternoon of lazy fun.
9. Metro. I never thought I would say this as, I hate the Red Line in the morning and afternoon rush but, I will really miss the convenience of the Metro system. Have you seen the cost of gas lately?? “Doors closing. Please stand clear of the metro doors. Ding-Dong” *sigh*
10. DC at night. My special friend has a great view of the Capital from his place, and it is beautiful at night. It’s something about seeing the Capital and the city at night it’s somewhat peaceful and it feels like home, even the sirens have a special place minus the knee-grows that caused them (I told you I worked in the hood).

I will however love my new position and the fact that I don’t have to pay state income taxes and I will have more free time to post after I make sure their website is fabulous which means long nights and infrequent posting until Oct 08.
