still thinking spring.

CREED - Spring Flower EDP Spray

Okay, so anyone who knows me knows that Spring Flowers by CREED is my favorite scent. It is a little cher if you are used to picking up your perfume at your local TJMaxx bargin bin. But, as a lady you should always have a classic, smart, sophisticated, trademark scent that is distinctly you. Which is why I think this perfume is absolutely brilliant! (via Liz)

madison star couture.

Madison Star Couture

Madison Star Couture is so on time with its fashion. If you don’t know already, the owner of this fabulous online boutique is none other than celeb stylist Misa Hylton (i.e. Puffy’s original baby-mama). She has taken her fabulous fashion sense and created a wonderful place online that fuses clean design and sophisticated fashion.

These two pieces are my faves from the boutique they remind me of effortless chic. Nothing over the top that screams “Remy Ma” here ladies, just sophisticated cuts and beautiful fabrics. The print kimono style blouse is definitely a must have that can transition from day to night; and the dress is perfect for a date or meeting the family.

I hope this site sticks around it is definitely a savvy pick, and will soon be a socialite’s favorite place to shop online. (via Liz)

socialite of the week.

Jennifer Hudson.

I damn near fell out of the couch when they called her name. I was so happy for her I was crying just as much as her.

Usually I don’t watch the Oscars because, they bore the hell out of me. I mean do I really care about the Best Short Film Animation of a Foriegn Film? Doubtful. But, because I missed Halle, Denzel, Morgan and Jamie win theirs I decided that this time I would not miss the opportunity to see another African-American win. So I popped burned my kettle corn and got cozy just to see if this fabulous woman; who is the personification of faith and determination would take the honors of Best Supporting Actress (although she probably should have gotten the lead title) that she so rightfully deserves and she did!

Way to go J-Hud. You’re a long way from American Idol Ms. Hudson (even though your red carpet outfit was a little “different”). Thank you for paving the way for other African-American actresses of substance and character.

save your hands.

Burt's Bees - Shea Butter Hand Repair Creme

I always get compliments on the softness of my hands, which always surprises me. I guess I always thought that it was inherent for ladies to have soft hands. Apparently this isn’t the case. There are a lot of you ladies walking around with two pieces of sandpaper disguised as hands. Because of this I have decided to share my secret with some of you ashy hand bandits :-) .

I swear by this product and most of Burt’s Bees other products. The secret is simple every time you wash your hand place a small dollop in your hand while they are slightly damp and rub them until they are dry. That was simple, now do it and kill the sandpaper.

Enjoy,

Liz

the perfect white dress.

Sunner

I love this white dress. It is such a right now look! I saw someone at the Oscars with a dress similar to this but, I think this dress would be absolutely stunning at a tea, or brunch at the Four Seasons with girlfriends and not too over the top and cheesy.

thinking spring

Anthropologie Zoey Lie-a-Bed V-Neck

The cold and snowy weather has already got me thinking about the spring and what I would wear. This dress from Anthropologie is something that could be worn now with a cute turtleneck, skinny jeans, and a pair of cute boots; and then for spring I could toss the turtleneck, and put on a cute pair of flats.

all dressed up.

Another event always brings an onslaught of nervousness and jitters. I mean, I do have a reputation to maintain which requires that I have the perfect dress, shoes, hair and make-up done professionally, correct undergarments,  cocktail purse, and overcoat (if it’s in the winter or the fall). I can usually manage this amount of stress but, now my mom will be in town which means that my selections better be up to par or else I’ll be digging around my closet in the ninth hour trying to find something that won’t garnish her faint wain of disappointment which usally sounds like,  “Are you sure that dress isn’t sending the wrong message, like easy?”

Well, this time will be different. I think she would find that my choices are just right for the occassion with no need to comment.

The dress.

I think this dress is cute and flattering for my figure (I am a little hippy). It’s sexy and glamorous but, not too much and even better it doesn’t scream cheap. Price $159. Visit www.groupusa.com for more info.

The shoes.

I know you’ve seen this shoe 100’s of times but, it is a classic evening sandal which means you can wear it with anything for as long as you have feet. This shoe is also sooooo comfortable, Stuart Weitzman’s “Cuando” is a little on the cher side but, it is worth it. Price $375. Visit  www.nordstrom.com to get yourself a pair.

The undergarments.

We have all seen a women with a gorgeous gown on but, something looks off; like her bra maybe and it makes the dress look sloppy and cheap. Personally, I like my breast to look “neat” underneath my evening gowns and truth be told most of the bras that are out do nothing to enhance your breast when you are in your finest evening attire which makes a lot of women think they should go braless or wear something that gives you that weird four boob shape. But, as you guessed yours truly uses Intimates Nordstrom Nu Bra. I swear by these things. They are the best when you need support for your backless gowns and they have sizes going from A to D. Price $65.00

My lifesaver, Donna Karen level one “waist embrace” body shaper. Clearly those holiday fetes have caught up with me in all the wrong places and that Bally’s membership still has dust on it. So a body shaper like this is the closest thing I can get to lipo. Price $40

I definitely don’t want anything that is holding me together shown to anyone tonight so I plan to keep myself together using Hollywood Fashion Tape “red carpet” Assortment. I have been using this stuff for almost ten years and it has never let me or my dress down. Price $8.95.

All items at www.nordstrom.com

The hair.

As usually I only trust my tresses to Leucretia at Steppin’ Out Hair Studio’s but, this event was last minute and starts at 5pm and I know there is no way in hell I’ll make it out of there with her Saturday client list already packed to the seams. Which is why every lady needs a little lacefront in their life. Check out www.zarawigs.com. They have some of the best lacefronts I’ve seen online.

The makeup.

I only trust my makeup to Frankie at the Georgetown MAC store. It’s always just right and never over the top. She creates my evening look perfectly, and it stays fresh for hours so I don’t look like a grease ball when I am taking pictures.

Price $50. visit www.maccosmetics.com for more info.

Okay so now you know what I am wearing but, now I have to get started.

See ya tonight,

Liz

go go gadgets.

I love techie goodies. I really do.

So while I am perusing the web I just realized that I need to post some goodies that I have and want.

the new ipod shuffle in fun colors
ipod minis in new colors I sooo want the pink and green one its so cute and so affordable each one is only $79 at www.apple.com. They also engrave them for free if you purchase from Apple.com.

the new motorola q

I am upgrading my current phone to this one when it comes out at the Sprint store in Tyson’s Corner. Just think its a pda, bluetooth phone, mp3 player (with excellent sound), camera, computer with windows interface with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InfoPath, Outlook and more stuff that I am sure I will need eventually. My only wish is that is would come in a different color other than black. But I am sure I can live with it. www.sprint.com

foldable keyboard?

I love this ingenius idea from G-Tech. They’ve created the 5250 Smart- Fabric Wireless Keyboard. If you are anything like me you probably hate punching those little buttons on phones like the one above if you have something important to write like; maybe; a blog:-). Go figure. So something like this cute foldable keyboard would be perfect for the reasons listed below:

  1. It’s a full QWERTY keyboard.
  2. It’s foldable fabric.
  3. It’s Bluetooth enabled and wireless.
  4. You don’t end up with “carpelthumbel”

I am soooo getting one for me and my overworked and ambitious little sis (she’s a tech geek). Prices start at $129.99. Visit www.Compusa.com for more info.
